Job description:

As an Embedded Controls Business Leader for a leading global powertrain consultancy you will work the company's Key Account Managers worldwide to build up visibility at potential customers, specifically in the area of Embedded Controls. You will also respond to potential customer requests to secure Embedded Controls projects. 
engineering departments for Transmission Controls SWC and Electrification Controls ELE (incl. ADAS/Autonomous) represent an Embedded Controls core competence consisting of >45 engineers. Due to a change in management responsibilities, a new business development role has been separately defined. 

Our client is the world's largest independent company for development, simulation and testing technology of powertrains (hybrid, combustion engines, transmission, electric drive, batteries and software) for passenger cars, trucks and large engines.

Embedded Controls Business Leader Responsibilities: 
 - Definition of a specific business development strategy, jointly with the relevant engineering department leaders for Embedded Controls, and implementation of a go-to-market strategy. 
 - Knowledge of the competitive market situation and the future industry direction (roadmap) in Embedded Controls, shall underpin this strategy. 
 - The role requires approaches to potential customers together with the sales organization (KAMs for key targets worldwide), to increase the visibility the service offering in Embedded Controls, and to speak authoritatively with engineering management at the customer. 
 - Coordinate resources in acquisition of profitable Embedded Controls business. 
 - Potential projects shall be scoped out, together with engineering colleagues, and commercial negotiation handled through to contract signature. 
 - Data on business development shall be maintained in our clients tools. The metrics of success shall include OI and OI CC. 
 - Occasional contact with research organizations, academia, public funding bodies, etc. shall also be required to increase the visibility of the service offering in Embedded Controls, and to attract funding for collaborative research
 - Regular travel to overseas customers will be required 

Your Profile: 
 - Degree qualified engineer with experience of Embedded Controls development projects 
 - Experienced in communication with customers and sales colleagues worldwide 
 - Ability to define a business development strategy, approach customers, and scope out potential projects 
 - Ability to prepare proposals and present to customer 
 - Highly customer focused and able to solve customer related issues 

Preferable: 
 - Knowledge of the competitive market situation in Embedded Controls 
 - Appreciation of future industry direction in Embedded Controls 
 - Previous experience of projects in Embedded Controls 
 - Negotiation with customers 
 - Knowledge of Salesforce.com
