Job description:

As Senior Vehicle Simulation Engineer with a market leading powertrain consultancy you will join a very dynamic team working on powertrain system sizing, electrification and car connectivity for existing and future products in the automotive industry. The work will involve delivering the next generation of Hybrids into market delivering the WLTP based strategy for a major global OEM. Our client is the world's largest independent company for development, simulation and testing technology of powertrains (hybrid, combustion engines, transmission, electric drive, batteries and software) for passenger cars, trucks and large engines.
Senior Vehicle Simulation Engineer responsibilities include: 
 - Lead small commercial and research projects overseeing other less experience engineers
 - Liaise with clients in technical discussions, project status and gateways reviews
 - Develop, manage and validate predictive models to support system definitions and design decisions from concept phase to start of production
 - Develop optimization algorithms for electrified powertrain controls using vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communication
 - Analyse real-world driving usage and test data, performing statistics and developing simplified models to understand performance of new technologies in the field
 - Participate in data collection initiatives to define requirements and support pilot test data analysis
 - Support report-out and presentations to senior management

Your Profile: 
 - Engineering/Science Degree with strong experience in powertrain (hybrid or conventional) within the automotive industry (HEV, MHEV, PHEV, EV)
 - Solid background in mathematics and statistics
 - Excellent Matlab programming skills
 - Strong Simulink experience for plant modelling, controls and electronics
 - Solid experience with other modelling tools (e.g. Dymola, Cruise, VSM, Modelica)
 - Excellent time management and communication skills.
 - Excellent presentation skills
 - Willingness and ability to interface constructively with a global team and clients
 - Proficient in MS Office
Preferable:
 - Systems engineering experience for product development
 - Software development experience
 - Experience in other programming languages (e.g. R, Python, scripting)
 - Database experience (e.g. Microsoft Access, SQL, Hadoop)

 - GBP35,000 - 45,000 dependent on skills and experience

 - 22 days holiday increasing by 1 day a year to a max. of 28 days
