Job description:

As the Hybrid based CAE Engineer with a market leading powertrain consultancy you will join a very dynamic team working on powertrain system sizing, electrification and car connectivity for existing and future products in the automotive industry. The work will involve delivering the next generation of Hybrids into market delivering the WLTP based strategy for a major global OEM. Our client is the world's largest independent company for development, simulation and testing technology of powertrains (hybrid, combustion engines, transmission, electric drive, batteries and software) for passenger cars, trucks and large engines.

CAE Engineer responsibilities include: 
 - Develop, manage and validate predictive models to support system definition and design decisions from concept phase to start of production
 - Develop optimization algorithms for electrified powertrain controls using vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communication
 - Analyse real-world driving usage and test data, performing statistics and developing simplified models to understand how new technologies will be used in the field
 - Participate in data collection initiatives to define project requirements and select appropriate logging systems
 - Support report-out and presentations to senior management
Profile: 

Essential: 
 - Engineering/Science Degree (or equivalent)
 - Solid background in mathematics and statistics
 - Excellent Matlab programming skills
 - Strong Simulink experience for plant modelling and controls
 - Excellent time management and communication skills
 - Excellent presentation skills
 - Willingness and ability to interface constructively with a global team and clients
 - Proficient in MS Office

Preferable: 
 - Relevant work experience in powertrain (electrified and conventional technologies) within the automotive industry
 - Systems engineering experience for product development
 - Software development experience
 - Experience in other programming languages (e.g. R, Python)
 - Experience with other powertrain modelling tools (e.g. Dymola)
 - Database experience (e.g. Microsoft Access, SQL, Hadoop)
 - Calibration / diagnostics tools experience (e.g. Vector Canalyzer, ATI Vision)

 - GBP30,000 - 40,000 dependent on skills and experience

 - 22 days holiday increasing by 1 day a year to a max. of 28 days
