The Corporate Sector Research and Advance Engineering is in charge of designing, testing and exploring systems, components and technologies. Our client's innovations consistently aim to achieve an improvement in the quality of life. Renningen, near Stuttgart, is the new hub of the Groups global research and advance engineering activities. Here around 1,600 employees from the center for research and advance engineering will develop new materials, methods, and technologies, along with new systems, components, and production processes.

As a Data Scientist / Mining Engineer your tasks will be: 
 - Performing of joint projects "Key Project Challenges" at the company's new centre for Artificial Intelligence 
 - Translate business needs into technical solutions Develop and apply advanced statistical algorithms for analysis of large-scale, high-dimensional data across various company busines domains (automotive, consumer, industrial)
 - Collaborate with product management, marketing and engineering teams in business units to elicit and understand their requirements and challenges and develop potential solutions
 - Stay current with latest research and technology ideas; share knowledge by clearly articulating results and ideas through papers, presentations to research staff, management, and key decision makers
 - Review/test code written by other's for critical feedback 
 - Thorough and continuous documentation Communication with various levels of management and technical staff

Your profile: 
 - Degree Level: Ph.D. with at least 1 year experience or M.S. with at least 3 years of non-academic work experience 
 - Major (s): Computer Science, Statistics, or related fields
 - Strong background in machine learning, data mining 
 - Proven expertise in at least 2 of the following: neural networks and other semi-parametric models, generalized linear models, probabilistic graphical models, latent variable models,time-series models, recommendation systems, and real-time learning
 - Strong programming experience in at least 1 of the following: Java, C++(STL), Python and at least one of the following: Matlab, R, Scala
 - Experience working with real-world, large-scale, and high-dimensional data sets
 - Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team environment
 - Strong analytical and problem solving skills and enthusiastic about learning new tools & technologies Excellent communication and documentation skills
 - Hands-on experience with the Hadoop stack (Hadoop/Spark Paradigms) is a plus
